Early Intervention

UCP has two Early Intervention programs.  Both programs provide a family centered, multidisciplinary approach to help each child develop the skills they need to maximize their learning and live a life without limits.  UCP has teachers on staff who specialize in early childhood development as well as licensed occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology staff.

Staff provide developmental screenings and assessments as well as ongoing intervention as needed.  Hearing and vision screenings are also conducted.  UCP has staff trained in Assistive Technology, Sensory Integration, Hanen, Neurodevelopmental Treatment, Infant Massage, Lactation Education/Consultant and Therapeutic Listening.  Both early intervention programs incorporate the Raising a Reader literacy program as part of the services provided.

The Creative Interventions program provides individual, home based educational and therapy services to infants and toddlers from birth to three years of age who demonstrate a developmental delay or disability that qualifies them for Early Start services through Valley Mountain Regional Center.  Therapy is available at the Save Mart CARES Sensory Integration Clinic upon approval.  Referrals to Creative Interventions are made through Valley Mountain Regional Center.

Great Beginnings provides individual, home or clinic based educational and therapy services to children within San Joaquin County who are between the ages of birth to five years.  These services are provided to children when there are developmental concerns but the children do not qualify for services from Valley Mountain Regional Center or their local school district.  These children are at risk of falling through the cracks and not being ready for kindergarten.  Great Beginnings also provides hearing and vision screening services to other First 5 funded programs.  Referrals to Great Beginnings can be made on any child younger than five years of age who lives in San Joaquin County.  To make a referral you can contact UCP at (209) 956-0290 and ask for the Clinical and Family Services Department or Great Beginnings.
